Kurumba Maldives

By: floLincoln We stayed here for five nights and this was our first visit to the maldives. Transfers were excellent as many have commented before. We enjoyed the location of our accommodation which was very close to the beach with lovely views. The room was well kept, clean and comfortable. The snorkelling(main reason for coming) was excellent and we enjoyed seeing the baby sharks swimming around the lagoon near the restaurant. Food was very good, we ate in the Italian, Indian restaurants as well as the main restaurant . Breakfasts were very good. We had read about the maldives being expensive and allowed ourselves a budget which was way over what we needed so we were pleasantly surprised. But neither of us drink much alcohol and we do try to eat modestly. We did however eat lunch each day and had a glass of wine with our evening meal but often had no more than one or two courses. People have complained about the noise from the airport. Yes you do hear some aircraft but the tranfer is quick and I suspect we were in our accommodation whilst others on our flight would still be waiting at the airport for their sea planes. I heard a man at the airport on our return journey complaining they had been up since 5/30 am for the flight ... We had left our island at 9/30 and felt it helped make a long journey less arduous by being close by. We would happily return to kurumba, we really enjoyed our stay. It is a good all round resort which would appeal to families and couples alike

Bandos Island Resort & Spa

by: Stuart W It's worth the money. The staff, especially the first person we met whose name I embarrasingly can't remember, was so nice and helpful. Keen to point out people shouldn't touch the coral (I'd come from a week on Reethi where people just didn't care, collecting shells and bits of reef at will in front of staff). All the above is because it's Maldivan owned and therefore they care about the environment. Once you care about that it's easy to start caring about people more, as a general cultural trait perhaps. So I found the Maldivan staff much better than European staff on other islands. Room Tip: Cashless island. Take an underwater camera for shark photos
